Bulgaria, while in the sphere of Byzantine influence, not only matured in its own style of Byzantine music, but excelled in the general development of Byzantine Chant as an art, producing some of the most brilliant and noted composers. Emerging out of a sea of Russian choral music, the recording "Bulgarian Divine Liturgy" revives a forgotten legacy of Byzantine Music in Bulgaria. Directed by Simeon Genov the St. Romanos Choir is composed of students of Orthodox Theology Byzantine Musicology and local Orthodox clergy of Sofia, Bulgaria.
